Overcoming a drug or alcohol addiction is nearly impossible without the support and structure that can be provided by a professional rehabilitation center. Rehabilitation centers can provide patients with the supervision and guidance they need to overcome the root cause of their addictions and move forward in a temptation-free environment.
The Riverbank House offers all men seeking to overcome the drug or alcohol addiction a safe haven in which they can receive valuable advice and tools needed to change their behavior and rid themselves of their addiction. The Riverbank House’s alcohol and substance abuse program is aimed at helping patients make the changes they need to, mentally, physically, and spiritually, in order to live a healthy life.
Challenges with Drug & Alcohol Addiction Recovery
One of the biggest challenges addicts face is a lack of structure in their living environment. Recovering from an addiction requires stability and structure, which are often lacking in everyday life. Addicts are also very skilled at manipulation, doing whatever it takes to feed their addictions. Without a support system to hold them accountable for their actions, addicts can slip further and further into the depths of their addiction. Professional rehabilitation centers offer both structure and discipline, helping patients change their behavior by refocusing their energies into more positive pursuits and getting rid of temptations.
Many addicts also suffer from deep seeded mental or psychological issues, which cannot be handled without the help of a professional. Curing an addiction without tackling the root of the problem will only lead to repeated relapses in the future and more destructive behavior.
What Makes Riverbank House Effective?
At Riverbank House, we stress the need to develop a lifelong commitment to recovery. Without dedication to their sobriety, addicts will soon fall into their old patterns of dependence. Riverbank House’s treatment programs are based on the Twelve Steps used in Alcoholics Anonymous, which allows addicts the chance to confront different aspects of their addiction. Our community also places a large focus on adhering to the Twelve Principles of Buddhism, which teach patients how to create harmony within their surroundings. All patients are encouraged to participate in daily yoga and meditation sessions and adopt the community’s adherence to a spirit of non-aggression, collaboration, self-reflection, mutual respect, and accountability.

Addiction Recovery Program Phases
· Phase I: Foundation
Phase I of our recovery program is aimed at introducing patients to their treatment plan and encouraging them to start off on the right foot. An important part of Phase I is a goal-setting session in which patients write out short-term and long-term goals for the duration of their treatment. Patients also receive ample support by attending group sessions with other patients and participating in the first 3 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous’ Twelve Step Program.
· Phase II: Implementation
Phase II of treatment acts as a continuation of the foundations built in Phase I. Patients are still required to participate in Foundation Phase activities while attending additional Solo No More activities. Patients also take part in a series of career planning classes as well as classes about financial planning and life management. Phase II also begins steps 4-8 of the Twelve Step Program.
· Phase III: Vigilance
Phase III places a heavy emphasis on working with recovery coaches to monitor patients’ self-action and discuss their Relapse Prevention Plan. Patients will also begin work on steps 9-12 of the Twelve Step Program and attend advanced coaching sessions to evaluate their short-term and long-term goals.
· Phase IV: Transitional Living
Phase IV is centered on preparing patients to live a live free of substance abuse after their treatment program is completed. During Phase IV, patients are moved into Independent Living houses where they can implement what they’ve been taught during their stay at the rehabilitation center. Phase IV also stresses continued participation in local 12-step meetings for additional support from other recovering addicts.
