Meet Dr. Margaret A. Bahder

Dr. Margaret A. Bahder

Board-Certified Psychiatrist

Dr. Margaret A. Bahder is a board-certified psychiatrist with nearly two decades of experience in adult psychiatry. In 2005, as the opioid addiction in the United States began to reach epidemic levels, Dr. Bahder began shifting the focus of her practice to the treatment of opioid abuse.

In 2006, she became the first physician in central New Hampshire to become certified to prescribe Suboxone, a medication that has been shown to be extremely effective in treating opioid addiction.

In addition to specializing in the treatment of opioid addiction, as well as alcohol dependency and abuse, Dr. Bahder focuses on dual diagnoses.

Recent studies estimate that approximately 10 percent of the U.S. population is struggling with opioid dependency. Studies have also shown that between 40 and 60 percent of people dealing with dependency issues also have an underlying mental health condition, such as bipolar disorder, depression or an anxiety disorder.

By identifying and treating addiction coupled with a mental disorder – a dual diagnosis – Dr. Bahder’s treatment plans are both effective and compassionate. At Bahder Behavioral Services, each patient’s treatment is customized to their individual needs, and personally overseen by Dr. Bahder. Dr. Bahder earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Warsaw in Poland in 1991.
